Abstract
This painting depicts eight horses about to bathe in a stream across the foreground. Six steeds take various poses alongside the water, including one rolling on his back. From the distance, a groom is seen riding the seventh stallion, leading the eight, along a winding path between rocks and trees. Every horse is individualized with different coat colors and patterns. A flock of black birds is over a tree to the upper left in which the distant mountains in light washes appear with the artist's inscription.
