About Bseiso Land Deeds

This set of forty-nine delivered digital documents in the Mahrous Mustafa Bseiso Land Deeds Collection, 1900-1940s, constitutes an important testament to the often-overlooked historical and economic realities of Ottoman and British Mandate Palestine, pre-1948, when entrepreneurs such as Mr. Bseiso, the owner of the archive, envisioned developing land for the sake of expanding agriculture and promoting economic modernization in Palestine. The archive includes materials detailing land purchase and ownership deeds and agreements, as well as legal permissions to use water reservoirs in Biʾr al-Sabʿ/Beersheeba, Palestine in the 1930s in and around the city center. It provides rare documentation of the modernizing activities engaged in by a renowned Palestinian family in pre-1948 Palestine.
