Title:
Proposal for Adult Education Center
Abstract:
Greenwich House was founded in 1902 as a settlement house to help New York's increasing immigrant population adjust to life in a new country. In the Carnegie Corporation records, the files of grant-related correspondence with settlement houses provide a wealth of information on life in immigrant communities (predominantly Eastern European or Italian) and on the settlement house activities within these communities.
