Abstract:
James T. Shotwell General Editor of the Economic and Social History of the World War was also a Professor of the History of International Relations at Columbia University. He devoted most of his life, as he put it, “to the organization of peace,” and was instrumental in the creation of some of the most important international institutions of the twentieth century, such as the United Nations. He succeeded J.B. Clark as the director of the Division of Economics and History in 1924.
