- Abstract: This medal and logo was designed for Carnegie Corporation of New York by a prominent American sculptor Paul Howard Manship (1885-1966) Pegasus, the winged mythological horse, is the central figure surrounded by the motto: "Carnegie Corporation for t he Advancement and Diffusion of Knowledge and Understanding."

The essay was originally published as "Wealth" in the June 1889 issue of the North American Review.
