Abstract: In this letter, Donald Young writes to advise Frederick P. Keppel on a number of elements of the Carnegie Corporation's planned comprehensive study on African American social conditions, including the need to research urban environments in response to the Great Migration, the importance of studying African American cultural differences, and why European candidates for leading the study might not inherently be more free of racial bias or better qualified as directors than American scholars.
