Aneesh Chopra discusses his career in technology policy, including his service as Virginia secretary of technology under Governor Tim Kaine, as an advisor to the 2008 presidential transition team, and as chief technology officer (CTO) of the United States from 2009 to 2012 in the Obama administration. Chopra focuses on his vision of the relationship between government and private sector innovation, and describes initiatives in Virginia state government that served as models for his service in the Obama White House. Chopra outlines the creation of the CTO position in the White House, and its relationship to existing bodies such as the Office of Science and Technology Policy. Chopra also provides details about initiatives with which he was closely involved, including the proposal of universal broadband infrastructure in the 2011 State of the Union Address, and the development of healthcare.gov. Also discussed is Chopra's involvement in the Indian-American community, and its relationship to technology and public service.

Aneesh Chopra was the first person to hold the office of chief technology officer of the United States. Chopra previously served as Virgina's secretary of technology. Chopra was a candidate in 2013 for the Democratic nomination for lt. governor of Vir ginia. He is the author of Innovative State: How New Technologies Can Transform Government (2014) and co-founder and president of CareJourney. In 2015 he joined Albright Stonebridge Group as a senior advisor. Mr. Chopra is the co-founder and executive vice president of Hunch Analytics, an incubator and analytics company focused on the health care and education fields
