Anthony Foxx discusses his activities during the years of the Obama presidency, during which he served as mayor of Charlotte, North Carolina, from 2009 to 2013 and as U.S. secretary of transportation from 2013 to 2017. Foxx outlines major aspects of his agenda in Charlotte, and focuses on his leadership of the city's response to the financial crisis, recession, and elevated rates of unemployment. H e describes his engagement with Obama administration officials as mayor, and considers the policy alignment between federal and local efforts to create jobs, improve infrastructure, and boost economic growth.
