- Abstract
- This letter, written by the President of the Society of New York Hospital, describes educational activities of the New York Academy of Medicine and its value to New York Hospital, the oldest hospital in New York City (now known as NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital / Weill Cornell Medical Center). This letter was written after New York Hospital and Cornell University reached an agreement about using the hospital for teaching purposes, but several years before they agreed on building a joint medical center on East 68th Street. The New York Academy of Medicine, particularly its famous library, was the resource that allowed practicing doctors to keep abreast of changes in their profession.
