Abstract
The Carnegies formed a personal friendship with Edinburgh's first City Librarian, Hew Morrison, who brought Andrew Carnegie's attention to the estate at Skibo, were he would later spend his summers. Incidentally, Hew Morrison also recommended that Carnegie hire James Bertram as a secretary. As shown in this letter, he also participated in designing and choosing Andrew Carnegie's bookplates.
