Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum and cottage in Dunfermline, Scotland, where he was born on November 25, 1835, the son of a handloom weaver. Andrew's first-ever public gift was for Dunfermline, when he donate £5,000 in 1874 for the "Carnegie Baths" recreation and health club, followed by his 1880 gift for a public library.
