Abstract
Documentary about Guyana in the 1970s focused around an interview with Walter Rodney, Guyanese historian and political activist, assassinated in 1980. Rodney interview was filmed in Georgetown, Guyana in 1976 by the Victor Jara Collective, who were, at the time, shooting of their documentary film, The Terror and The Time. Archival footage provided by Guyana Film Centre. Documentary covers political , social and economic conditions of the working class in Guyana in the 1970s. Filmmakers founded the Victor Jara Collective in Georgetown Guyana in 1976 in commemoration of Chilean poet/activist Victor Jara, assassinated in Chile in 1973. Involved in the making of these two films were: Director, Rupert Roopnaraine, Cinematographers/Editors, Ray Kril, Susumu Tokunow, and Research, Sound and Editing, Lewanne Jones. In the Sky's Wild Noise also includes exclusive footage of celebrations in Georgetown in 1979 when Walter Rodney was released from jail as well as footage of his funeral in 1980.
