Abstract
After the outbreak of World War I, the Division commissioned a series of studies dealing with topics of immediate importance in connection with the war. This proposal by J.B. Clark presents a plan for the publication of Economic and Social History of the World War. The resulting seminal 150-volume History contained General, American, British, Austrian/Hungarian, Belgian, Bulgarian, Czechoslovak, F rench, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Netherland, Polish, Rumanian, Russian, Scandinavian, Serbian, and Turkish series written by eminent scholars from these countries.
