- This painting was acquired by George Plimpton as a work by Frederick Sandys, and was exhibited as such in the 1974 exhibition on that artist. New research shows this painting was by the artist's father, Anthony Sandys, and is after a photograph of the sitter by Elliott & Fry (c.1865).
