Abstract
Oral history interview with Lhagpa Phuntsok (Tib. Lhag pa phun tshogs), Director of China's Tibetology Center (Ch. Zhongguo Zang xue yan jiu zhong xin) in Beijing; on his childhood and studying in 1953 at a new school in Gyantse, then in Shenyang and at the Central Nationalities University (1960-1963), the establishment of the Tibet Autonomous Region in 1965, and developments in Tibet since the 195 0s more generally.
