Carlos begins the first session by talking about his family, his father's abandonment, and his mother and aunts' prostitution. Carlos recalls the decision to move in with his aunt. He discusses the family problems he had after his aunt's death, the corruption in the housing system, and the housing conflicts he had with his cousin. Carlos recalls his fondness for studying. He also recalls his stay i n the Soviet Union and the depression he fell into when he abandoned his studies to return to Cuba.
In the second session, Carlos again discusses the family conflict over housing. He then reflects on racism in Holguin and in his family. Carlos recalls his first jobs and his days in the Soviet Union. Carlos reflects on homosexuality, bisexuality, the imposition of heterosexuality, and his distancing from identity labels

Carlos was born in Holguin, Cuba, in 1954. His father abandoned him at birth. His mother was a campesina. After his father's departure, his mother had to become a prostitute. In 1962, Carlos moved to Guanabo and decided to live with an aunt. After the death of his aunt in 1987, Carlos had to leave his home in Guanabo to move to Campo Florido. He studied at the Instituto Preuniversitario Vocacional de Ciencias Exactas Vladímir Ilich Lenín. Between 1976 and 1981, he lived in the Soviet Union, where he studied Nuclear Physics. Carlos also studied English and typing. He worked in Public Health offices and the Psychiatric Hospital of Guanabo. Carlos was interviewed for the project that led to the book How Things Fall Apart. The name is a pseudonym for the project
Carlos nació en Holguín, Cuba, en 1954. Su padre lo abandonó al nacer. Su madre era campesina. Tras la partida de su padre, su madre debió dedicarse a la prostitución. En 1962, Carlos se mudó a Guanabo y decidió vivir con una tía. Tras la muer te de su tía en 1987, Carlos debió dejar su casa en Guanabo para mudarse a Campo Florido.
