  <mods:note>Additional information: Fordham Hospital. the first public hsopital founded by the city in the Bronx was the Fordham Hsopital, which was established in 1892 on Valentine Ave near Kingsbridge Rd. in 1898 it was removed to Aqueduct Ave &amp; St James Place. on May 11th, 1907, the handsome new quarters on Crotona Ave were opened with impressive ceremonies, the total cost amounting to nearly a million dollars. There are 150 beds, and the authorities endeavor to care for all emergency cases in the Bronx above 170th Street.</mods:note>
