Andrea was born in La Habana, Cuba in 1950. When she was five years old, her father was murdered. She went to Bonifacio Verde Primary School and to Manuel Ascunce Secondary School. She studied French for three years at the Alianza Francesa. She was a Catholic. Andrea had a daughter. Andrea was interviewed for the project that led to the book How Things Fall Apart. The name is a pseudonym for the project
