Abstract
Career in Education: taught English as a Second Language [ESL] at DeWitt Clinton Hugh School in Bronx, New York, worked on opening an ESL high school at LaGuardia Community College in Long Island City, New York called International High School, deputy superintendent of the Office of New and Small Bronx High Schools, deputy regional superintendent for the East Bronx, senior instructional superintend ent for school improvement and restructuring, chief academic officer for new schools, chief schools officer and deputy chancellor for school support and instruction, supervising superintendent of the Autonomy Zone, professor of practice in educational leadership at Columbia University, director of the Summer Principals Academy; work with Carnegie Corporation: work with Annenberg Foundation at New Visions for Public Schools, Joel I. Klein and Diana Lam of the New York Department of Education, the centrality and vitality of Michele Cahill's work in the New York Department of Education and Carnegie Corporation, Robert L. Hughes, Norman "Norm" Wechsler, closure of low-performing schools, collaboration between Carnegie, Gates Foundation and Soros Foundation for opening fifty small Bronx high schools; listing of successful projects: modeling projects after successful pilots, support of community based organizations, the New York City Leadership Academy, New Century High Schools, New Visions, substantial work on the Common Core, relationships between education administrators and foundations, effectiveness of private vs. public sector in education.
