- One of several hundred letters from Andrew Carnegie to Robert A. Franks authorizing payments for various charity causes. The letters were then stamped with transaction numbers, and transactions were recorded in various financial journals depending on the kind of donation. Separate journals were kept for donations to libraries, church organs, and educational institutions.
