Abstract
N. M. Butler was a lifelong friend and political ally of Elihu Root, whom he met in 1885. Together they came up with the idea of Endowment for International Peace, which they then presented to Andrew Carnegie. In this letter he discusses the feasibility of an international conference on labor relations.
