Oral history interview with Luis Borges, 2021
Abstract
In the first session, Luis Borges talks about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on his life, with particular emphasis on his role at the hospital and his close relationships with patients. In his second session, Borges talks about how the staff at the hospital had to adapt their programs in new creative ways due to COVID-19. Reflecting on the past two years, Luis has become better at taking care of himself mentally through meditation, dedicating more time to his art projects, and making physicial lifestyle changes following a diabetes diagnosis. Borges analyzes how the pandemic has made him more resilliant to change and more open to sharing vulnerabilities

Luis Borges was born in 1976 and lives in Staten Island. He is the patient media technology coordinator in the Child Life Department at Mount Sinai Pediatrics. He is also a husband and father with a daughter and a son. Borges has worked at Mount Sinai Pediatrics for since the early 2000s
