Church of St. Paul the Apostle, Ninth Ave at 59th Street, one of the greatest Catholic churches in New York, in charge fo the Paulist Fathers, a missionary order founded in 1858; its architecture is Thirteenth Century Gothis - massive, spacious, impressive; its vaulted ceiling painted a dull blue, studded with the stars and constellations arranged from exact maps amade by one of the Paulist Fathers to represent their positions on January 25, 1885, the festival of the conversion of St. Paul, and its gorgeous columns, altars and windows look their best when lighted at night.
