a: lekanis lid; Hercules knot handle, impressed circle under handle, matte black glaze in circle; two heads of women in profile facing left with top knot emerging from kekryphalos and wear stephane and necklace in added white; radiate design in corner of each segment framed by vertical reserved stripes; heads flanked by palmette-fans; regular black vertical stripes along exterior lip of lid; b: lek anis; inset lip; body tapers drastically where attached to foot; thick banded foot; entire vessel in matte black glaze
