He also covers formative memories of his years as a Transit Police detective through the 1970s, 1980s, and early 1990s, as well as his youth growing up in East New York in the 1950s and 60s. Weatherspoon shares his views on contemporary politi cs, and his commentary on the conduct of the New York Police Department regarding high profile shootings of African American police officers and civilians

Graham Weatherspoon is a retired detective of the Transit Police Department's Major Case Unit and NYPD's Brooklyn North Robbery Unit. Over the course of 21 years with the police, 1974 to 1995, he served as vice president of the Transit Guardians Assoc iation, and was a founding member of 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care. At the time of this interview he was a board member of the Amadou Diallo Foundation, and also a public speaker
