Ramonín begins the first session by discussing his life during the Fulgencio Batista dictatorship, the arrival of the Revolution, and the economic precariousness during the Special Period. Ramonín then describes his work in the countryside as a child. He recalls his time in the police force, where he was in charge of detecting possible explosives. He also recalls when he was forced to marry by th e Communist Party. Ramonín discusses his thoughts about youth. He then recalls his upbringing and the division of tasks between the men and women in the household. Ramonín recalls the literacy process. He then compares life in the countryside with life in the city.

Ramonín was born in Holguín, Cuba, in 1940. Since he was a child, he worked in his family's fields. He became literate in 1961. In 1965, he joined the Communist Party. He mostly worked as a farmer, but had periods working as a police officer and qua rry worker. He had five children. Ramonín was interviewed for the project that led to the book How Things Fall Apart. The name is a pseudonym for the project
Ramonín nació en Holguín, Cuba, en 1940. Desde pequeño, trabajó en el campo de su familia. Fue alfabetizado en 1961. En 1965, ingresó al Partido Comunista. Se dedicó a varios trabajos durante su vida (fue policía y trabajó en una cantera), pe ro mayormente fue campesino. Tuvo cinco hijos. Ramonín fue entrevistado para el proyecto que culminó en la publicación del libro How Things Fall Apart. El nombre es un seudónimo para el proyecto
