Carnegie Corporation of New York provided financial assistance to other Carnegie organizations, while also using their resources and expertise to channel the funds toward specific activities. The Carnegie projects in Europe were administered by the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and many basic science research grants went through the Carnegie Institution of Washington. The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and Carnegie Corporation shared the office space and much of the administrative staff until 1979.
