A digest of recent happenings in conservative politics, the newsletter’s readership mostly included liberal politicians and activists who wanted to keep tabs on the opposition. As one such subscriber, long-time Democratic Congressman and 1972 presidential nominee George McGovern, put it: the Group Research Report was “my principal source of information on the right wing and extremist activities during my entire public career.”
