Original involvement as a pediatrician in hemophilia care in 1950s; financial difficulties in providing blood products to people with hemophilia; first patient hospitalization solely for physical therapy; involvement in obtaining first federal grant for rehabilitation of people with hemophilia and subsequent role as director of that program; advent of concentrated blood product for hemophilia treat ment and consequent home care; growth of the orthopedic and physical therapy programs at Orthopedic Hospital in Los Angeles; problems with drug abuse and pain control in people with hemophilia; involvement with and later split from National Hemophilia Foundation; involvement in obtaining passage of California state bill to include children with hemophilia under Crippled Children Service coverage; other bills to ameliorate financial difficulties in caring for people with hemophilia; appointment to first California State Hemophilia Advisory Committee; advent of AIDS in people with hemophilia; reasons for development of a team approach to hemophilia care; involvement with families of people with hemophilia; aspects of the "hemophilia community"; involvement with World Federation of Hemophilia
