"The single old lady of whom you have such a fine picture, taken at the Sewing Rooms, 408 West 20th Street ..." (Letter written by "Director of Department"; initials WHM/R) In Bagdad on the Subway; A Monthly Bulletin of the New York Association for Improving Condition of the Poor, No. 1, October 1917. Illustrates article at p. l4 entitled, "The Women's Work Shop." Also used in ad for Women's Work Shop in Bagdad on Subway No. 2, Nov. 1917 and No. 6, Dec. 1918. In "AICP 1921; The Seventy-eighth Annual Report" of the AICP (1920-1921) Page 6 (middle picture) AS AN ALTERNATIVE to the dreaded almshouse or to begging on the street, the A.I.C.P., through its shops for old men and women, offers to each a "bright cheerful place to work and an opportunity to keep his own little home.
