Sends Adams an act of Congress on the correspondence between the Governor of Massachusetts and Captain Stanhope. It is difficult to predict the actions of Britain in recent years. Their feeling of resentment against us causes them to hurt their trade by preventing our participation in it thereby hindering our ability to pay our debts to them. Wishes credit at an end and that America could purchase nothing aboard except for ready money. Many of their actions in North America do not speak of good will. Pitt too young as yet to form a proper judgment of his character.
