Forwarded Jefferson's letters on captives in Algiers to t he Treasury Board. Approve of alterations in the consular convention; Jefferson's conduct commended. Jefferson's reasons for coming to America on a visit justified, but hard to see what could be accomplished as no sitting Congress. As soon as the President is in office will ensure he gets all the business at hand.
