Abstract
Informs Congress that according to a letter of Captain Burrows, the British troops that had entered Monmouth County returned to New York the same day. Captain Burrows and fifteen of his men fired on them all day and were reinforced by Colonel Holmes and his sixty militiamen. The British, under Colonel Hyde, numbered 200. Reports on dead and wounded on both sides. A few inhabitants taken by the British to their ships. Has not received advice on the matter from Colonel Ford.
