Abstract
Men throughout the ages have violated allegiance to their Sovereign, but we are assured by the Scriptures that those parts of God's kingdom in revolt will be someday purified and improved. It was commanded that the Gospel be preached throughout the earth, but a period arrived when the lustre of pure doctrine became dim. Since the Reformation the Gospel has been resuming its purity, and Christians a re now engaged in conveying the Scriptures to heathen lands. Signs also indicate that a softened attitude toward Jews may bring about their conversion. The indifference of people to savage nations within our boundaries is yielding to sympathy and a desire to help. A changing attitude in Europe is seen in the gradual disappearance of the view that people had no right to judge for themselves on religious tenets. Bible societies have been established in France by permission of the government and are proceeding prosperously. There is reason to conclude that all these events have been produced by "Him, in whose Hands are the Hearts of all Men." We must not relax our exertions or be discouraged by opponents; God is with us and we have nothing to fear.
