Abstract
Washington has discovered that General McIntosh had authority to establish a "necessary magazine of provisions" at Fort Pitt, which is in the western division. He asks that Congress immediately authorize the Commissary General of Purchases to extend McIntosh's commission to include the western division. McIntosh should be advised of the decision as soon as possible, so that he can begin moving prov isions as soon as the roads permit. Washington feels that "many good consequences result from having all the Branches of the same department under one head, and that irregularity and want of system generally prevail throughout those that are detached and uncontrouled by a superintending Power." In hand of Tench Stagehands problems in supplying troops and possible solutions.
