Name:
Jay, John, 1745-1829; Grenville, Lord
Title:
Document, 1794 August 16
Abstract:
John Jay explains that his position is "delicate and responsible, not only with respect to myself, but to those who placed me in it." Asks, therefore that Grenville and he come to a speedy conclusion. Since length of voyages to Philadelphia and New York average about six and seven weeks and Congress meets the first Monday of November--when President is anxious to include in his speech "something satisfactory and decisive" concerning negotiations--Grenville will understand John Jay's desire for speed in reaching conclusion to talks.
