- Abstract
- De Marbois said that in the affair of Longchamps, the French court would drop their demand on him [Longchamps]. Asked that the paper containing that demand and other documents be returned to De Marbois. If this accomplished, the proposed letter to French king would be unnecessary, even improper. Also asked that Congress pass resolutions asserting rights of ministers and recommend that states punish violations. If done, might be enclosed in letter to French king to alleviate uneasiness remaining from case of Longchamps.
