- Abstract
- Jay able to retrieve American credit lost by Cabarrus action after receiving Franklin's letter of 16 March. Has made necessary arrangements with d'Yranda for payment of all bills. Will send list of bills as soon as possible. The conduct of Spain is the opposite of sound policy. Thinks a treaty with them becomes daily less important. Must remain faithful to France as long as she is to us. Rather be ruined than dishonored. Grateful to France for her new loan.
