- Abstract
- Longchamps indicted in Philadelphia in 1784 for infraction of law of nations and for assault and battery, against French consul there. Tried and found guilty fined and imprisoned for two years. Every foreigner in U.S. lawfully entitled to protection of the laws of the country and owes obedience to them. Marbois' request is thus premature and not required by the law of nations. (Several enclosures o n the case.)
