Abstract
Soon after Van Allen's proposals were sent by Governor Jay, Lord Amherst, his uncle, died. Van Allen's estimate has 20,000 acres for the estate; according to the papers it is 24,000 acres. Does not yet have enough information to determine duration of leases. Rents impossible to fix himself; desires him to ask Governor Jay for help. Have authorized bankers to pay for expenses of survey and Van Allen 's compensation. As soon as receives opinion on term of leases, will send power of attorney right away
