Abstract
Has forwarded Philadelphia papers for Jefferson to Jay, as Jefferson feels Jay will be able to find a less expensive conveyance than the French packet. Politics in Pennsylvania assume new heat, as the nearly even division in the Assembly excites the orators and politicians to great exertions. The "one-legged" (uni-cameral legislature) state of Pennsyl vania, far from crippling the reason of the State, requires that it be most circumspect and cautious in its movements.
