Abstract:
Still has not found a serving woman for John Jay; he thought Mrs. Grant would do, but found her æa very vulgar IrishwomanÆ who could not sew and sometimes drank too much. Has heard from Mr. Munro that MariaÆs health is improving. Clarke has had problems getting hay. Describes the situation with General ClarksonÆs fatherÆs will, made in 1784. He had been afraid the British government would confiscate his property and divided up the inheritance among his children. The General exhibited nobility in his actions in this matter. Describes horrible accident to Mr. KingÆs young son. Financial discussion about John JayÆs mortgage.
