Delivered an oration yesterday at the request of the Washington Society.
The Society walked in procession and was a very respectable gathering of more than two
thousand. A ball was given in the evening to which Mr. Jackson was invited. However,
discovering his attendance would give much discontent, he was prevailed upon not to come
and accordingly sen t in his apology. John Jay's letter to Mr. Wilberforce will be
forwarded by Col. Barclay. Aunt Munro continues much the same.
