Lists letters he has written--six in number since April 1781. Has moved the family to Poughkeepsie, where they will be safer. He notes that robbery mentioned in his letter of April 22, 1781 was committed by members of Delancey's Corps. Seeks instructions concerning the education of Peter, whom he has just started in school. Concerning Sir James Jay: "Our noble Knight has resided in this place upwar ds of 18 months, he has employed his time well--his productions may be seen in every news paper in this City--a noble method to make friends and light pockets-he is now gone to pay the Family a visit."
