Abstract
Family fares as well as can be expected. Suggests that John Jay write to their father, Peter Jay, to suggest that some slaves be sold. It is a burden to maintain them because for the expense of food and clothing. Those slaves who are with the family are either too old or young for field work. One of John Jay's servants is now one of Sir Henry Clinton's family. Part of the beans John Jay sent were p lanted, and seem to survive well into the winter.
