Abstract
Sorry to hear of the death of John Jay's newborn daughter. He is in Philadelphia to conduct some business for the family. All are well, as is Governor Livingston and his family. John Jay's son Peter is strong and well, and is very fond of his book. Sir James Jay is at Philadelphia and will remain for a while for what reason he does not know. Mr. John Sloss Hobart applied for the loan of John Jay's law books. Frederick writes for permission; feels this would be of service to John Jay because books are exposed to moths and dust despite Frederick's effort to protect them. He notes Judge Hobart lives at Shaaron, a place thought safe.
