Family news. Since Lafayette will have so many places to visit and so much ceremony to undergo, doubts if he will pay John Jay his promised visit this fall. In Albany a dispute has arisen between the Governor and Common Council as to which should receive the General and present him to the other. It is now thought he will be unable to go there. Thinks he will have to return to Albany to argue a case of some consequence, and therefore cannot come to Bedford right away.
