- Abstract
- Sorry to hear Susan is still in low spirits. Although they have all had to deal with much in the last few months, they must try to bear up under the burden. It is Susan's duty to console their declining father. When he dies it will help to be able to remember all that she has done for him. Judy has been very sick. Grandfather Livingston will be happy to hear how well Peter is doing. Believes his ti me spent in Elizabeth with her and her grandparents had a good deal to do with his present good behavior. Cannot come visit just yet, as John Jay is very busy during the sitting of the federal court. If they adjourn and Mr. Jefferson comes, John Jay can leave. Please ask Woodruff to come and get her things. Discussion of petticoats, spangled gowns, their cleaning and the coast. This week the President will move into the neighborhood into Mr. and Mrs. Comb's house; the house he was in was not large enough. (The rest of the letter is torn in half.)
