- Abstract
- Returned to tranquility now has heard from Jay. Made decision to inoculate children [against smallpox] by Dr. Sutton, hopes no disapproval. Baby had attack first; bathed her feet and kept her in the open air; fever abated after midnight. Saw 'pustules' in the morning. Doctor assurance worst was over and she had prevented convulsions. Maria's symptoms appeared next evening; both very well now. Wishe s to hear that Jay equally recovered. Dr. Franklin, when in England, rarely saw an American without a sore throat; if Jay does not recover in Bath, should leave England altogether. Nothing new from Susan. Peter recovered from measles; Caty in Elizabeth. Abbe is returned; in bed with bad cold. Mrs. Carter had a daughter.
