She assures Jay she is recovered from her illness. Her thanks for his last letters; is pleased to have anticipated his wishes about the horse. Anecdote about Claas, their servant. Peter is well and in fine spirits. The transports in the north river, below Croton ferry, thought to have landed for forage but Regulars said to have landed at Peekskill. Is determined to remember Jay's maxim: prepare for the worst, hope for the best.
